Three simple words for Christian Living

with like for

WITH, LIKE, FOR

As we start a new year it is always good to refresh and refocus.  That is why in our service on 22nd January we looked at John 1:1-18.  This passage reminds us of who God is, what God has done, and what God is doing.  It always begins with God.  God is the one who creates, God is the one who has entered this world in Jesus, God is the one who extends us grace and enables us to become His children.

Our privelege and opportunity is to receive God into our lives and live as His children.

On 29th January we looked at Luke 10 which shows us three dimensions of living as His children.  Working from the end of the chapter to the beginning of the chapter we see:

Mary was WITH Jesus, sitting at His feet, listening to Him and learning from Him.

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught us how to live LIKE him - being people who love their neighbours - those near us whoever they are.

In the sending out of the 72 Jesus sent his disciples on mission FOR Him - meeting people, eating with them, healing them and telling them about God.

So as we start the year, I encourage you to think about how you can live:

WITH God - seeking Him, being aware of His presence, worshipping, listening and learning

LIKE God - growing in your character so you become more like Jesus, full of faith hope love joy and peace (and much more besides)

FOR God - cooperating with God to bring to those around you opportunities to experience God's goodness and to know God better.

You might like to read these passages from John and Luke a number of times and let them sink into your soul.
Then think about small achievable steps you might take in each of these areas - WITH, LIKE, FOR.
