Two Podcasts to stimulate your thinking
To grow as Christians, we need to grow in Content (what we know), Character (how we behave), and Competency (what we can do).
The starting point for growth in Character and Competency is often some new Content. HOWEVER, Content alone doesn't change us, acting on the content does. So we need access to great content, AND we also need to be part of a supportive community that will help us act on what we are hearing (Jesus said the wise builder is one who hears His Words AND puts them into practice - Matt 7:24). That is certainly our aim at Encounter.
Here are two podcasts that provide great Content. I would encourage you to try them out. I'd be happy to have conversations about any of the content and how we might act on it.
Ask NT Wright anything - focused on theological questions
The podcast only start in late 2018 so you could easily catch up from episode one. They come out about once a fortnight.
Below is some information about NT (Tom) Wright. He is an academic who can communicate with non academics. His podcasts cover important questions of theology. If you submit a question and it gets referenced on a podcast - see me for a prize!!
NT Wright is Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews.
He is one of the world’s leading New Testament scholars and a world authority on the apostle Paul.
Wright is the author of hundreds of academic and lay-level books such as Surprised by Hope, The Day The Revolution Began and Paul: A Biography (writing under the name Tom Wright for a general audience).
Wright is ordained in the Church of England and, among other roles, served as Bishop of Durham between 2003 - 2010. He is much in demand as a lecturer around the world and the author for the bestselling For Everyone commentary series and the New Testament For Everyone Bible translation.
Life School Podcast by Caesar Kalinowski - focused on discipleship and mission
This podcast has been going longer than Tom Wright's and it also runs weekly. So there is a bigger back catalogue. No need to start at the beginning, but there is certainly good stuff in earlier episodes. I have actually met Caesar once through 3dm connections. He has great content on discipleship and mission in our ordinary everyday lives.
From the 123lifeschool.net website:
